BEIRUT – Prime Minister Najib Mikati met Saturday with Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and a delegation accompanying him at the government serail in Beirut.
Here's what we know:
• Aboul Gheit came to Lebanon to take part in a ceremony rewarding the best doctoral thesis in law in the Arab world.
• His visit comes a day after President Michel Aoun sent a letter to Saudi Arabian King Salman Bin Abdulaziz on Friday commemorating the anniversary of the Saudi kingdom’s founding, and expressing his wishes for the reestablishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
• Aoun also told a delegation of Arab justice ministers in Beirut that Lebanon it willing "to cooperate with Arab states in everything that would help improve laws and regulations,” adding that “Beirut opens its doors to everyone, notably Arab brethren."
• Mikati and Aboul Gheit did not issue a statement on the substance of their meeting.
