BEIRUT– US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea was in Zgharta today to meet with Marada leader Sleiman Frangieh, the party’s press office reports.
Here’s what we know:
• Shea will lead a delegation from the embassy to Akkar on Thursday, our correspondent in the area reports.
• She will meet with MPs Walid Baarini (Future/Akkar), Tarek Merhebi (Future/Akkar), and Hadi Hobeiche (Future/Akkar).
• The Sunni political scene, and especially the Future Movement, is in disarray following party leader Saad Hariri’s announcement on Monday that he will not participate in elections. He also requested his party follow suit and refrain from participating.
