BEIRUT — Speaker Nabih Berri has called on the Parliament to meet Tuesday to discuss a series of pending draft laws, the NNA reported Friday.
Here is what we know:
• The session is scheduled to be held in Beirut’s UNESCO Palace on Tuesday, Dec. 7. The agenda of items up for discussion has not yet been released.
• World Bank Regional Director for the Middle East Saroj Kumar Jah told L’Orient Today on Wednesday that he expected the Parliament to meet to discuss amendments needed to implement the World Bank-funded Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) program.
• Parliament last met on Oct. 28 in a contentious session regarding amendments to the electoral law for the 2022 parliamentary elections. The Free Patriotic Movement has since appealed these amendments to the Constitutional Council.
