TERMS AND CONDITIONS
PREAMBLE
Société Générale De Presse et Édition SAL, publisher of "L'Orient Today" having its head office located in Baabda-Damascus road, L'Orient-Le Jour Building, Beirut, P.O. Box 42-254 Hazmieh- Lebanon, registered at Beirut CR under the number 25 962 on 12/24/1971, offers on its website www.lorientlejour.com as well as on its mobiles and tablets applications (hereinafter together referred to as "the Site") news content in French language as well as subscription and re-subscription services to its daily newspaper L'Orient-Le Jour, its advertising supplements and its magazines (hereinafter together called the Publication) and to its digital subscription Edition.
"You" refers to the natural person browsing the Sites and likely to place an Order;
"Product" refers to any product whatsoever, subject of your order, offered for sale on the Sites in accordance with these General Conditions of Sale (GCS), including subscriptions in the daily newspaper and magazine(s). The rules applicable to the Products are also applicable to the "Services" offered when the General Conditions of Sale do not suggest otherwise.
"Order" refers to the purchase of the Product(s) made by you on the Sites in accordance with these General Conditions of Sale.
"Digital Offers" refer to subscriptions to paid digital content offered by the Sites, accessible according to the chosen package once the payment is made.
"Boutique" refers to the Online Boutique where you can order a Product.
"Order Confirmation” refers to the documents summarizing the elements of the Order and the full details that you have communicated.
"My Account" refers to the section accessible only after you are identified, from which you can manage your personal information, your orders and your subscriptions.
These General Conditions of Sale govern any transaction carried out on the Site between L'Orient-Le Jour and you, with both parties accepting the same without reservation. It is specified that the Products and Services are intended for your personal use. These General Conditions of Sale will prevail over any other conditions listed in any document. You declare that you accept the same fully and without reservation.
Finally, you declare that you are at least 18 years of age, enjoying legal capacity or having parental authorization allowing you to place an Order on the Site.
ARTICLE 1 - OBJECTIVE
The purpose of these General Conditions of Sale is to set out, worldwide, the rights and obligations of both parties, exclusively because of the relationships they initiate on the Internet and only on the Site, with respect to any and all online sales of Products offered on the Site.
These General Conditions of Sale may be subject to modifications; therefore, you are invited to consult them regularly. In the event of modification, your Order remains governed by the conditions which were online and which you accepted on the day of placing the Order.
ARTICLE 2 - USE OF THE SITE
The content of the Site is available to Internet users for strictly personal, private and non-collective use, it is free of charge for the free content, and for a subscription for the paid content. The same is true for newsletters.
Any re-use in a professional or commercial context or any marketing of this content to third parties is prohibited, unless expressly approved by L'Orient-Le Jour.

ARTICLE 3 - PRICES
3.1 Applicable rate(s)
L'Orient-Le Jour suggests several subscription formulas, all subject to the General Conditions of Sale, including all the detailed conditions, such as in particular the duration, frequency, price, and conditions of renewal which are provided for the chosen formula.
The rates are set in dollars, all taxes included, excluding any cost of processing and shipping, if applicable. Any change in the applicable VAT rate may be passed onto the price.
The price applicable to the Order is the one indicated on the page summarizing the contents of your cart before validation of the Order, and confirmed in the Order confirmation sent by email.
3.2 Price modification
L'Orient-Le Jour reserves the right to modify its prices at any time but the Products will be invoiced on the basis of the prices that were in place at the time of the registration of the Order, subject to availability.
L'Orient-Le Jour reserves the right to increase the price of subscriptions under the following conditions:
- for "fixed-term" Subscriptions, at the end of the current subscription period; and
- for “free period” Subscription, L'Orient-Le Jour will send you an email informing you of the price increase for the subscription and the date such increase enters into force within a sufficient period. Upon receipt of this correspondence, you will be free to terminate your subscription by sending an email to the following address: serviceclient@lorientlejour.com. Your express opposition to the rate increase will result in the termination of your subscription and may not give rise to compensation.
3.3. Diversity of Digital Offers
You have different subscription formulas for a diverse access to Digital Offers.
Details of the different offers are available in the subscription section on the Site.
The contents accessible via a Digital Offer are accessible only during the period of said Offer.
ARTICLE 4 - TERMS OF SUBSCRIPTION
The validation of your Order implies your full acceptance of these general conditions, without reservation. The information registered by L'Orient-Le Jour on the site and applications constitute proof of all of your transactions made on lorientlejour.com
The information registered by the payment system constitutes proof of financial transactions. To confirm your Order, you must click on the "Subscribe" button at the end of the Order. A subscription confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address you provided.
ARTICLE 5 - PAYMENT
The prices in place for the various subscription and re-subscription offers are those displayed on the site on the day the Order is registered, and L'Orient-Le Jour reserves the right to modify them at any time. The prices are set in dollars.
All Orders, whatever their origin, are payable in dollars. Promotional offers are only valid for the validity period of the offer in question and only for the first subscription. Current promotions cannot be combined with each other. They cannot be exchanged for their monetary value or be reimbursed in part or in full. After the deadline indicated, the promotional price will no longer be valid.
The payment transaction will be made through Net Commerce, the provider of L'Orient-Le Jour group account.
In the event of payment default, L'Orient-Le Jour will have the right to automatically terminate the Order or subscription, without prejudice to its right to request payment for the previous period.
At the end of the validity date of the digital subscription, your subscription will be automatically renewed for the same duration and the due amount will be withdrawn, with the exception of gift offers. You can at any time request the cessation of automatic renewal by sending an email to serviceclient@lorientlejour.com
Payment is made by bank card. L'Orient-Le Jour group uses the secure payment service of Net Commerce, which incorporates the SSL security standard, to protect all data related to personal information and means of payment.
By paying by bank card (Visa, Mastercard), you enter your card number, the expiration date and the cryptogram on the back of the card. The debit will take place when the order is dispatched.
ARTICLE 6 - DELIVERY
The Products are delivered to the delivery address that you indicated when placing your Order. You agree to receive the Products ordered.
With regard to your Order of a subscription to a periodical publication, L'Orient-Le Jour undertakes that your receive the first issue within a maximum of four (4) weeks, from the confirmation date of the Order.
Concerning the Order of a Product other than a subscription, the delivery deadline will be indicated in the summary sheet of your order.
With regard to the order of any Digital Offer, you can view the status of your subscription in the "My Account" section. The content accessible via a Digital Offer will be available immediately after placing the Order, on the Site.
Any Order placed on the Site and delivered outside Lebanon is subject to a maximum delivery time of four (4) weeks. It may also be subject to possible taxes and customs duties which are imposed when the package reaches its destination. These customs duties and any taxes related to the delivery of a Product will be at your expense and are entirely your responsibility. L'Orient-Le Jour is not required to check and inform you of customs duties and taxes applicable; it is your responsibility to check with the competent authorities in your country.
ARTICLE 7 - SECURITY OF BANK CARD PAYMENTS ON THE SITE
The Site is subject to a security system aimed at protecting, as effectively as possible, all sensitive data related to the means of payment.
The bank data that you communicate to us, which are encrypted on your own terminal, are not shown visibly, and are neither known nor kept by L'Orient-Le Jour group. This transaction is carried out securely via data encryption using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. This encryption makes the transmitted bank data unintelligible to us.
For the security of transactions, the L'Orient-Le Jour group has in fact chosen to entrust these tasks of collection and possible storage of data to Net Commerce, a service provider for certified payment. This service provider follows international security standards and ensures the confidentiality and integrity bank data of the cardholder.

ARTICLE 9 - INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All content (texts, images, photographs, infographics, slideshows, videos...) made available on the Site, all brands reproduced on the Site, all programs and/or technologies provided in connection with the Site and, more generally, all or part of the Site itself, is protected under intellectual property rights, and this applies to any place in the world. A subscription does not allow the transfer of any of these intellectual property rights for the benefit of the user whoever they may be. Only use for private and non-collective use is authorized under the conditions referred to in Article 2 of these General Conditions of Sale.
Consequently, the user is prohibited from 1) reproducing and/or using the brands and logos present on the Site; 2) copying, modifying, translating, reproducing, distributing, selling, publishing, exploiting in any other way and distributing in another format in electronic or other form, all or part of the content (even partially) present on the Site; 3) distributing within their company or to a third party, whoever they may be, a press review and/or a panorama of press including all or part of the information present on the site; and 4) assigning any right whatsoever over all or part of the content of the Site to a third party.
Reproduction of one or more of the content and services present on the lorientlejour.com sites, in their entirety or not, is subject to prior and express authorization from L'Orient-Le Jour. ARTICLE 10 - APPLICABLE LAW - DISPUTES
These General Conditions of Sale are subject to Lebanese law. The language of these General Conditions of Sale is English. In the event of a dispute, the Lebanese courts will have sole jurisdiction.
