Negotiations between Tehran and Washington entering final phase, Iranian media says
The United States and Iran are expected to enter final negotiations focused on nuclear and economic issues, the Iranian news agency Mehr reported Friday, according to Reuters.
According to the report, a draft memorandum of understanding between the two sides would include ending the U.S. blockade, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting oil sanctions, releasing frozen Iranian funds and a commitment from the United States to withdraw its forces from areas surrounding Iran.
The discussions will not include Iran's ballistic missile program, Mehr said, adding that the draft agreement still needs to be approved by the relevant authorities.
Iranian-American agreement 'will have direct repercussions for Lebanon, whether the Lebanese authorities accept it or not,' Hezbollah MP says
Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah said that a potential Iranian-American agreement "will have direct repercussions for Lebanon, whether the Lebanese authorities accept it or not," arguing that some officials were being "exploited" by Washington to serve American interests, which are distinct from those of Lebanon.
He asserted that Iran was not seeking to replace the Lebanese state, responding to remarks made two days earlier by President Joseph Aoun, who told Tehran that there was a significant difference between aid and interference.

Sharaa denies Syria's intention to intervene in the Lebanese war
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa said that "the rumors circulating about Syria's entry into Lebanon are merely speculation," clarifying that "Syria's aim is to end the war in Lebanon, not to expand it or become involved in it," according to reports in several Lebanese media outlets. The remarks come after U.S. President Donald Trump recently indicated that Syria was willing to intervene against the pro-Iranian Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In a statement to a delegation from the Damascus countryside, he explained that "the issue of demarcating the border between Syria and Lebanon is not a priority at present, given more pressing issues, including the situation of the approximately 1.4 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the need to find a suitable mechanism to ensure their return."
Netanyahu told Trump he did not want Israel to be a victim of a Tehran-Washington deal
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. President Donald Trump that he "fully understood" Washington's desire to reach an agreement with Tehran to end the war, but that he "thought there would be no deal" and that Israelis would not be "the victims of that deal," according to the online newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
The Israeli daily reported "exclusive quotes" from the prime minister during an Israeli government meeting Monday evening, in which he provided details of the tense phone call he had with Donald Trump that reportedly halted the large-scale Israeli strikes announced against Beirut's southern suburbs.
Iran-US agreement: Signing likely in Geneva in coming days, according to Axios
Four U.S. Air Force C-17 aircraft took off for Europe on Thursday carrying supplies for a possible trip by Vice President Vance to a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States in Geneva in the coming days, according to Axios.
According to two diplomats from the two mediating countries and two U.S. officials, an agreement in principle was reached Wednesday evening after several hours of negotiations between Qatari mediator Ali al-Thawadi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Axios reports. The agreement, jointly negotiated by Qatar and Pakistan, is expected to be called the Islamabad Agreement.
Trump's announcement that an agreement had been finalized surprised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In recent days, Netanyahu has contacted close allies of the Trump administration in an attempt to obtain information, according to a well-informed American source.
