Noor al-Yacoubi is a 27-year-old media coordinator at a local research center, translator and writer. She hasn't left the Gaza Strip since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, and has been sharing reflections on her life with L'Orient Today since the beginning of the war in Gaza and following the cease-fire.I waited for over 30 minutes for any means of transportation to drop me near Al-Shifa Hospital. A wait that is now part of our new daily routine in Gaza. As I stood in the street waiting, watching the street and hoping any empty car, tuk-tuk, or an animal-driven cart would stop, an elderly paralyzed man in a wheelchair passed by. His son was pushing the wheelchair, and another man in his 40s was walking with them. I overheard them saying they were heading to the same destination.
