Israel said it had carried out strikes on the largest petrochemical complex in southern Iran, "a key target that accounts for about half of the country’s petrochemical production," while Tehran asserted that the situation was "under control" but that the extent of the damage still needed to be assessed. The Assaluyeh gas complex, in southern Iran, sits on the edge of the vast South Pars gas field, which is shared between Iran and Qatar. The Iranian Fars news agency also claimed that another petrochemical complex, this time near Shiraz (south-central Iran), had been targeted by strikes, mentioning "minor damage."

Iranian state media claims Tehran rejected a cease-fire proposal
