Trump says he will lift some oil sanctions

Bahrain's Interior Ministry announced early Tuesday morning that an Iranian attack on a residential area in the capital Manama had left one person dead and several injured.
"In a preliminary count, one person died and others were injured as a result of a blatant Iranian attack targeting a residential building in Manama," the ministry said on the social network X.

Health Ministry announced in a statement that an Israeli raid on Nmairieh (Nabatieh district) killed seven people and injured two.
A strike on Beit Lif (Bint Jbeil) left two dead and eight injured, while two people were killed and four others wounded in Tebnine (Bint Jbeil).
In Qlayaa (Marjayoun), an Israeli strike killed the village priest and injured six others. A strike in Shoukin (Nabatieh) killed one person and wounded six.
Southern Lebanon: Health Ministry condemns Israeli attack on Red Cross vehicle in Majdelzoun
Health Ministry condemned an Israeli attack earlier targeting a Red Cross ambulance in Majdalzoun, in the Sour district.
Two rescuers were seriously injured and hospitalized, according to the statement, while our correspondent reported that three were wounded. The ambulance was also damaged.

Raad: Lebanon faces choice between war and capitulation
Hezbollah parliamentary bloc leader Mohammad Raad said, “Today, Lebanon is not facing a choice between war and peace, but between war and capitulation to the humiliating conditions the enemy wants to impose on the government, and the government knows it.”
“We have no choice but resistance,” he added. “Our goal is to drive the enemy from our land, free the prisoners, end the aggressions, allow reconstruction, and enable residents to return. We will fight the enemy until it is expelled from our land, out of duty.”
Hezbollah conducts 2 strikes on Tel-Aviv hundreds of kilometers from the border

Were residents of Alma al-Shaab asked to evacuate their village?
Residents of Alma al-Shaab (Sour district), along with an anonymous municipal council member, told our correspondent in southern Lebanon that the “mechanism” committee had informed the municipality and villagers that the area must be evacuated by tomorrow morning at the latest.
Contacted by L’Orient-Le Jour, Lebanese civilian member of the committee, Ambassador Simon Karam, could not immediately confirm the information.
U.S. embassy sources were also unavailable for comment.
A UNIFIL source told the publication that the peacekeeping force will accompany civilians leaving the area, at the request of residents and the municipal council president, without providing further details.
Lebanon seeks talks with Israel amid Hezbollah war
Lebanon has proposed direct negotiations with Israel through the Trump administration to end the war, Axios reports. Both the U.S. and Israel were skeptical.

Samy Gemayel, head of the Kataeb party, said in an interview with al-Hadath that “it is not easy to get rid of Hezbollah, a militia deeply rooted in the state.”
“Hezbollah is holding the state hostage and acts on Iran’s orders,” he added.
“The disarmament of Hezbollah is a government decision, independent of recent developments,” Gemayel said, also noting that he is “pushing for stricter government measures against Hezbollah.”
He further expressed support for President Aoun’s initiative aimed at steering Lebanon out of the war.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would hold a press conference later on Monday before returning to Washington from Florida, but gave no details about what he would discuss.
The press conference is scheduled for about 5:30 p.m. (21:30 GMT), after U.S. markets close. It comes as global markets slump more than a week into the war with Iran amid soaring oil prices and fears of spiking inflation.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said on X on Monday that Iran’s new supreme leader is “a tyrant who will continue the regime’s brutality.”
“The hands of Mojtaba Khamenei are already stained with the blood that marked his father’s rule. Another tyrant ready to perpetuate the brutality of the Iranian regime,” the ministry said in a post titled “Like father, like son.”
Israel says it killed Hezbollah unit commander in southern Lebanon
Israel announced on Monday that it killed the leader of one of Hezbollah’s three units in southern Lebanon during its offensive against the party that began on March 2.
During a visit to the Lebanon border, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz was informed of the death of the “Nasser unit commander of Hezbollah,” Abu Hussein Ragheb, in a strike overnight, the ministry said in a statement.
This unit, deployed in the eastern part of southern Lebanon, was the first to open a front against Israel after the Hamas attack on Israeli soil on Oct. 7, 2023, which triggered the Gaza war.
'Mechanism' committee asks residents of Alma al-Shaab to evacuate the village by tomorrow morning, says municipal council member
Residents of the village of Alma al-Shaab (Sour district) and a municipal council member who preferred to remain anonymous said that the 'mechanism' (cease-fire monitoring) committee informed the municipality and the residents that the village must be evacuated by tomorrow morning at the latest.
The municipal source said that they tried to stay and hold on in the village, but that they have become exposed to danger. He added that they will leave the village to protect the remaining 90 residents.
Kuwait emir condemns ‘brutal’ Iranian attacks
The Emir of Kuwait, Meshaal al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, condemned Iranian attacks on his country, which have so far killed 12 people, following Tehran’s missile and drone strikes in the Gulf in retaliation for U.S.-Israeli operations.
“Our country was the target of a brutal attack by a neighboring Muslim nation we consider a friend, even though we did not authorize the use of our territory, airspace, or coasts for any military action against it,” the emir said in a televised speech.
He reaffirmed Kuwait’s “full and inherent right to self-defense,” speaking publicly for the first time since the Iranian strikes began on Feb. 28.
Israel vows not to back down against Hezbollah
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said, “not only will we not back down against Hezbollah, but we will seize the opportunity to strike it and inflict losses. We have the chance to establish maximum security,” according to Israeli media reports.

Two Israelis lightly wounded by Hezbollah's missiles on central Israel

According to the medics, a 32-year-old man was hit by an object flung by the blast, while a 38-year-old woman suffered injuries to her leg.

Lebanon death toll rises to 486 since start of Israeli offensive

Sharaa says he stands by Aoun in disarming Hezbollah

Larijani: Strait of Hormuz will remain dangerous as long as war continues
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council chief, Ali Larijani, said Monday that security in the strategic Strait of Hormuz cannot be restored while the war with the United States and Israel continues.
“It is unlikely that security can be ensured in the Strait of Hormuz amid the fires of war ignited by the United States and Israel in the region,” Larijani wrote on X.

Lufthansa has announced an extension of its flight suspensions to and from several key Middle Eastern airports — including in the UAE, Lebanon, Israel, and Iran — on the tenth day of the war, AFP reports.
Flights to and from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Amman (Jordan), and Erbil (Iraq) are suspended until March 15.
Flights to and from Beirut are suspended until March 28, and flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 2. Tehran, the longest-affected destination, will not be served until April 30.

Air France announced Monday that it is extending the suspension of flights to Lebanon and Israel until March 13, according to a statement sent to Lebanese travel agencies.

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry says Kuwait has informed it that some of the attacks targeting the Gulf country originated from the Iraqi territory and asked Baghdad to intervene to put an end to them, according to Al Jazeera.
According to the ministry's statement, the message was conveyed by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Iraq Mohammed Hassan Al-Zaman during a meeting on Sunday with Iraq’s Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Uloom.
“In his response, the Undersecretary affirmed that the Iraqi government is making great and exceptional efforts to spare Iraq the repercussions of the war, and to work to preserve the country’s security and stability in the face of the attacks to which Iraq is exposed, like other countries in the region,” the statement said.

Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler said in a statement posted on X that NATO defense systems "shot down an Iranian ballistic missile that entered Turkish airspace today."

Macron arrives in Cyprus to discuss strengthening security in the region

French President Emmanuel Macron, who arrived in Cyprus on Monday to discuss strengthening security in the region with Cypriot and Greek leaders, will visit the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier off the coast of Crete in the afternoon, according to the Élysée Palace.
The French president arrived at around 1 p.m. (Lebanese time) in Paphos, in the south-west of the island, where he met with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for talks followed by a visit to a command post and statements to the press.
The purpose of the trip is to "demonstrate France's solidarity" with Cyprus, where a British military base was hit by a drone shortly after the start of the Israeli-American offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, the French presidency said.
New update on southern Lebanon
Israel targeted the village of Qlaya (Marjayoun) with two artillery shells, injuring five people. The first shell injured a person identified as Clovis Boutros and his wife, who were taken to Marjayoun Hospital. The second wounded priest Pierre al-Rai and another person identified as Elias Boulos, who were also taken to the same hospital.
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of air strikes around midday, targeting the outskirts of the village of Jmaijmeh, near a gas distribution company, as well as the village of Yater (Bint Jbeil).
An Israeli air strike also targeted the village of Beit Lif (Bint Jbeil).
Intensive Israeli artillery bombing targeted the town of Khiam (Marjayoun), accompanied by gunfire.
Israeli strikes kill two first responders in villages of Tayr Debba and Jwayya
The Health Ministry announced that two paramedics were killed in Israeli strikes on Sour on Sunday night.
According to the ministry, one paramedic was killed and two others wounded in a strike targeting the village of Tayr Debba, while another paramedic was killed and four people wounded in a strike on Jwayya.
The first strike also killed eight other people, while the strike on Jwayya killed three people in total.
"The Israeli enemy continues its systematic targeting of rescue teams, having struck two Civil Defense centers," the ministry said in a statement.
"The death toll continues to rise, adding more rescue workers to the list of dead and wounded in this war, in which the Israeli enemy ignores all international laws, treaties, and agreements, making rescue workers a primary target and hindering any humanitarian efforts that could limit the ongoing violence," it added.
At least two people killed in central Israel by Iranian missiles
Israeli emergency services have confirmed that two people have died and another remains seriously injured following missile attacks in central Israel, Haaretz reports.
At a construction site in Yehud, Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced a man in his forties, a Chinese foreign worker, dead after he was seriously injured by missile shrapnel.
A second Chinese worker, also in his forties, was seriously injured and evacuated to Sheba Medical Centre in Tel HaShomer.
Authorities said he was seriously injured but his life was not in danger.

Attacking Lebanese Army in current circumstances 'suspicious,' says Aoun on Israeli attacks
President Joseph Aoun said that attacks against the Lebanese Army in the current context were "unacceptable, surprising, and suspicious" because "they serve attempts to undermine the authority of the state and question its capabilities, and align, in one way or another, with the objectives of those seeking to involve Lebanon in regional war, bypassing the will of the majority of Lebanese, who are weary of wars and their consequences and attached to the exclusive right of the state to decide on war and peace."
The president was speaking in the wake of a meeting with the ambassadors of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, as the Israeli army stepped up its attacks and attempts at raids and incursions into southern Lebanon and the Bekaa.
During the first of two Israeli commando operations in Nabi Sheet this weekend, several members of the Lebanese Army were killed.
"The government's decision regarding exclusive control of weapons will be implemented according to the plan established by the army command when security conditions permit," Aoun continued, after stating: "The ongoing Israeli attacks on the southern suburbs, the South, and the Bekaa will not achieve Israel's objectives."
Lebanon has informed the major powers and the United Nations of its full readiness to resume negotiations and examine the security issues necessary to end the dangerous Israeli escalation.
Lebanon's position is firm, as stated in last week's Cabinet decision, regarding Lebanon's full and definitive commitment to abide by the terms of the cessation of hostilities agreement reached in November 2024, in order to preserve peace and stability, in return for Israel's obligation to cease its attacks on the entire Lebanese territory.
The three ambassadors confirmed their countries' solidarity with Lebanon during this difficult period and their willingness to provide the necessary assistance to Lebanese displaced from their villages.

The Kuwaiti Defense Ministry reported overnight on Sunday to Monday that there had been another missile and drone attack on the emirate, on the tenth day of the U.S.-Israeli aggression against Iran, which has spread across the region.
"Kuwaiti air defenses are currently facing hostile missile and drone attacks," the Defense Ministry announced, as quoted by the Kuwaiti news agency Kuna.

Israel carried out a series of heavy air strikes on southern Lebanon last night, in a continuation of its sharp escalation of attacks over the weekend which especially targeted residential areas.

Hezbollah confronts Israeli incursions into Odaisseh and Aitaroun
In addition to fighting a new commando operation in the Bekaa Valley, Hezbollah also said it had fought Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army continued its incursions into Odaisseh and Aitaroun.
In a series of statements, the party-militia claimed to have fired artillery shells twice, at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday and 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, at soldiers advancing from the area known as Khallet al-Mahafir towards Odaisseh. HRW accuses Israel of 'illegally' using white phosphorus on Lebanon
Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused Israel this morning of "illegally" using white phosphorus on populated residential areas in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, shortly after the resumption of the war between Israel and Hezbollah.
"The Israeli army illegally used white phosphorus artillery shells fired over residential areas on March 3, 2026, in the town of Yohmor in southern Lebanon," the NGO said in a statement.
HRW said it had "verified and geolocated seven images showing white phosphorus munitions" that exploded "over a residential area" and Civil Defense personnel responding to a fire affecting houses, "which was likely caused by white phosphorus-impregnated felt pads."

Israel carried out at least three strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut early on Monday morning, between 3:45 and 6:00 a.m. Explosions were heard in the capital.
According to local media, the strikes targeted the Ghobeiry neighborhood, near al-Sahel Hospital.
Second Israeli incursion on the Bekaa since Saturday
This is the second incursion by the Israeli army into the Bekaa since a first attempt on Friday night.
Israeli soldiers entered Nabi Sheet for several hours to search the Shukr family cemetery for the remains of pilot Ron Arad, who has been missing since 1986.
The operation, which ended in failure, was carried out under cover of heavy Israeli strikes which killed around 40 people.

New Israeli operation on Lebanese-Syrian border, Hezbollah says it targeted helicopters
For the second time in 48 hours, and since Israel's escalation began, Israel has attempted to carry out a helicopter operation on the heights of Nabi Sheet, in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon.
According to the state-run National News Agency (NNA), fierce fighting broke out between Israeli soldiers on the ground in Mount Amana, which mark the border with Syria in this region, and Hezbollah. Hezbollah said in a statement that it had fought off this new Israeli infiltration.
"After the failure of the Israeli landing two days ago in Nabi Sheet, the enemy attempted another landing in the same area. But the fighters' eyes and weapons were on alert," said a statement released overnight by the group. It said that at 00:10, its fighters "detected the infiltration of about 15 helicopters belonging to the Israeli army, coming from Syria. They flew over the Amana mountains and "specifically the villages of Janta, Yahfoufa, Nabi Sheet, Arsal, and Ras Baalbeck," while some of them "landed an infantry force in the Sarghaya plain on the Syrian side of the border, whose advance into Lebanese territory was observed. A response was then launched against the helicopters and the infiltrated force "with appropriate weapons," according to Hezbollah, which specified at 1:30 a.m. that fighting was continuing.
A Hezbollah official also told AFP that the group had shot down an Israeli helicopter during the operation.
