Trump says, ground troops in Iran would be 'a waste of time'
Sending ground troops to Iran would be "a waste of time," U.S. President Donald Trump told NBC News last night, judging such an option to be unnecessary.
"It's a waste of time. They've lost everything. They've lost their navy. They've lost everything they could lose," he told the American channel. Asked to respond to a statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that a U.S. ground operation would be a "disaster," Trump said it was "useless talk."
On Thursday, Araghchi had already told NBC that Iranian officials were "prepared for any eventuality, even a landing." "We are waiting for them [the enemies]. We are confident that we can confront them and that it would be a disaster for them," he added.
