BEIRUT — President Joseph Aoun and French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the international conference to support the army, originally set for March 5, has been postponed to April.
"President of the Lebanese Republic Joseph Aoun and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation during which they discussed the latest developments affecting the security of the entire region, including friendly countries. The two presidents jointly decided to postpone the international conference in support of the Lebanese army and internal security forces, originally scheduled for March 5 in Paris, to next April, as the necessary conditions to keep the original date were not met," reads a statement from Baabda Presidential Palace.
"During the conversation, the two heads of state emphasized that the gravity of the current regional situation further strengthens the need to preserve Lebanon's stability, support its legitimate institutions and ensure the restoration of its full sovereignty," the statement added.
