Noor al-Yacoubi is a 27-year-old media coordinator at a local research center, translator and writer. She hasn't left the Gaza Strip since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023, and has been sharing reflections on her life with L'Orient Today since the beginning of the war in Gaza and following the cease-fire.We often describe this as our worst nightmare. For two years, we have lived in fear. We have gone to sleep hungry on empty stomachs. We have cried through repeated displacements and evacuations. We have wished for any sign of peace, of security.We have lost brothers, sisters, parents, friends, and people we cared for deeply. We have lost our homes, our land, our businesses and the fruit of years of hard work — everything our families had spent a lifetime building.All this has shaken many of our life values and principles.
