On Thursday, late morning, the Iraqi Committee for Freezing Terrorist Assets reversed its Statement No. 61, which, on Nov. 17, had placed Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthis — alongside 24 other entities — on the terrorist organizations list, ordering their assets to be frozen in accordance with United Nations Security Council requirements.It took only a few minutes for Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani’s government to backpedal on a shocking decision that could have upended the country.The decision went unnoticed for two weeks but exploded like a bomb Thursday morning (the date it took effect) when a high-level Iraqi government source confirmed to Argus Media that an official statement would be issued soon.
