On Thursday, people are denouncing the genocide in Gaza, and on Friday, there is elation at the spectacle of a humiliated Islamic Republic, infiltrated everywhere by Israeli intelligence services.

Why the weakening of Iran is getting mixed reactions in the Middle East

Israel is waging a war of eradication in Gaza and pushing forward with is annexation of the West Bank. It occupies part of southern Syria and Lebanon and is acting freely in both countries, striking at will. In its immediate environment, Israel is exploiting the fragility of the region's eclectic social fabrics to increase its power and impose itself as the one and only decision-maker in the Middle East. It benefits from the indulgence, and in some cases even the support of local regimes, which share with Israel a common hostility not only toward political Islam, whether Sunni or Shiite, but also toward any attempt at democratic transition in the region.
