Incursions, heavy strikes: What is Israel seeking in southern Lebanon?

Over the past 10 days, the Israeli army carried out two rounds of strikes in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. Lebanon, meanwhile, mourned two more civilian casualties on Thursday, May 29: Khoder Fakih, a first responder with al-Rissala (the rescue unit affiliated with the Amal Movement) in Kfar Kila (Marjayoun district), and Mahmoud Atwi, a municipal employee from Nabatieh Fawqa (Nabatieh district), who was heading into a forest to activate a water pumping station.Since the cease-fire agreement signed on Nov. 27, 2024, Israel has killed at least 165 people in Lebanon, according to L’Orient-Le Jour’s tally, and continues to occupy five positions in southern Lebanon.What’s more, Israel has recently carried out ground incursions into certain border areas of the strategic Marjayoun district, where it continues to occupy two positions....
