Kassem Hachem, MP affiliated with Nabih Berri, stated that "Lebanon has been officially informed that an agreement will be announced in the coming hours." He emphasized, "Lebanon is committed to respecting Resolution 1701, and it must be applied on both sides," speaking to Sky News Arabia as reported by local media.
U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the previous war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, stipulates that only the Lebanese army and U.N. peacekeepers can be deployed along Lebanon's southern border.
The municipalities of Safed, Rosh Pina, and Acre in northern Israel announced this evening that classes in all schools will be suspended on Tuesday, even though these cities are not located in areas where the Israeli military has heightened security measures.
The Ramat Korazim council — located south of Rosh Pina — and the Mevo’ot HaHermon Regional Council in the Golan Heights have also announced the suspension of classes, according to Haaretz.
The Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli military stated that the army carried out "new airstrikes targeting Hezbollah terrorist sites in the southern suburbs of Beirut, hitting two headquarters of the Executive Council" of the party.
"These strikes aim to diminish the Executive Council's ability to lead and support Hezbollah’s terrorist elements and activities, as well as its attempts to rebuild its military capabilities," he emphasized. The strikes are also "part of efforts to destroy command centers, production sites, and weapons depots that Hezbollah has established in the southern suburbs of Beirut over recent years."
Two other strikes targeted the southern suburbs, according to local media.
The United States is making every effort to reach a diplomatic solution in Lebanon but emphasizes that such an agreement requires the approval of all parties involved in the conflict, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said, according to Reuters.
Miller spoke during a regular press briefing as signs of a diplomatic breakthrough grow, following remarks by a senior Israeli official that the Israeli cabinet would convene on Tuesday to discuss a cease-fire agreement with Hezbollah.
“The United States believes that gaps have been significantly narrowed, but there are still steps to be taken. Washington does not believe an agreement has been reached regarding Lebanon,” he added.
The Israeli army carried out a strike on Beirut's southern suburbs, less than an hour after issuing an evacuation notice to residents of two buildings in Haret Hreik and Ghobeiri.
This was the fifth wave of strikes targeting the suburbs today.
The Israeli military has issued an evacuation order to residents of two separate buildings located in Haret Hreik and Ghobeiri, in the southern suburbs of Beirut, urging them to leave immediately.
In a post on X, the Arabic-speaking spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, stated that the residents of these buildings "are located near Hezbollah facilities and assets, which [the Israeli military] will target soon."
The buildings are highlighted in red on maps shared by Adraee.
An Israeli airstrike targeted "Abou Dib" Street in Sour, near the Bitar gas station, according to our correspondent.
At 6:15 p.m., Hezbollah targeted Israeli soldiers gathered south of Khiam (Marjayoun) for the second time today with a "barrage of rockets."
U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to announce a cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel within 36 hours under existing plans, according to four senior Lebanese sources, as cited by Reuters.
Earlier, the pan-Arab Asharq al-Awsat newspaper reported that Biden and Macron would declare a 60-day cease-fire on Tuesday. According to Reuters, officials in Washington declined to respond when asked about a possible announcement on Tuesday; while in Paris, officials only said talks were ongoing.
“We are close to a cease-fire in Lebanon,” said White House spokesman John Kirby, quoted by Reuters.
He said the Hochstein cease-fire talks “were positive and moving in the right direction.”

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at 5:20 p.m. on the Rawia North base in the occupied Syrian Golan. The base serves as the headquarters of the armored battalion of the 188th Brigade, which includes a tank ammunition depot, the party stated.
Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at 4:30 p.m. on the Foran base in the occupied Syrian Golan, describing it as "a staging and preparation base for ground forces heading toward Syria."
Since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah on Oct. 8, 2023, 3,768 people have been killed in Lebanon, and 15,699 others have been injured, according to the Ministry of Health.
One person was killed, and three others were injured in Israeli artillery fire that targeted the village of Qlayaa (Marjayoun) over an hour ago, according to our correspondent. The victims are reportedly of Syrian nationality.
Israel's Home Front Command announced this evening it was strengthening directives for Israeli communities in the Golan region, northern Israel, and towns near the border with Lebanon, Haaretz reported.
Two Israeli strikes targeted Ghobeiri in Beirut's southern suburbs less than an hour after the evacuation notice issued by the Israeli army.
The commander of the Israeli army's Golani Brigade requested Monday to step down following an incident in which an elderly Israeli civilian was killed alongside an Israeli soldier in a combat zone in southern Lebanon, Haaretz reported.
Ze'ev Erlich entered the combat zone last week in violation of military protocols and was killed alongside Sergeant Gur Kehati, who was assigned to secure his entry into the area. The Israeli military police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee has issued a new evacuation notice to the residents of two buildings in Ghobeiri and Haret Hreik.
The first is located near a cemetery and the Imam Sadiq mosque, and the other is next to a sports club.
Israeli fighter jets carried out an airstrike on Mahmoudieh, south of Aishieh (Jezzine district), according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
The death toll from Israeli strikes on Nabi Sheet (Baalbeck district) has risen to seven, according to our correspondent in the Bekaa. The count remains provisional.
A senior U.N. official has urged the parties involved in the conflict in Lebanon to "agree to a cease-fire," according to AFP.
"I welcome ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a cessation of hostilities and call on the parties to accept a cease-fire rooted in the full implementation of Resolution 1701," said Muhannad Hadi, speaking on behalf of U.N. Middle East envoy Tor Wennesland, during a Security Council session.
⚡ Lebanese Parliament Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab told Reuters on Monday that there are "no serious obstacles" remaining to implement a 60-day cease-fire proposed by the United States to end the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.
He added that a sticking point regarding the monitoring of the cease-fire had been resolved in the past 24 hours through the establishment of a committee composed of five countries, including France, and chaired by the United States.
According to Bou Saab, the cease-fire proposed by Washington includes the withdrawal of the Israeli army from southern Lebanon and the deployment of the Lebanese Army within 60 days.
The Israeli army claims that it struck approximately 25 "Hezbollah-linked targets" in an hour around Beirut and in several other locations across Lebanon, according to AFP.
"Among the targets hit were command centers of the Executive Council [of the movement], as well as intelligence collection and control centers, where Hezbollah commanders and operatives were present," the army said in a statement. It noted strikes in Nabatieh, Baalbeck, the Bekaa Valley and Beirut's southern suburbs, among other areas, which all targeted residential homes and killed dozens of civilians.
An Israeli official told Reuters that the cabinet will meet on Tuesday to discuss the cease-fire agreement for Lebanon, which could be finalized in the coming days.
The United States has informed Lebanese officials that a cease-fire "could be announced within the next few hours," according to a Lebanese official who is also a Western diplomat, speaking to Reuters.
Israel's Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Denon said that cease-fire negotiations with Hezbollah are “progressing,” insisting however that Israel would retain the option of striking southern Lebanon in any agreement.
Ahead of a U.N. Security Council meeting, Denon said he expected the Israeli cabinet to meet on Monday or Tuesday to discuss a cease-fire agreement in Lebanon.
⚡ According to L'Orient Today's sources, despite the positive updates from Israel regarding the cease-fire agreement, some unresolved details remain. Furthermore, even if the war cabinet gives its approval, Israel is insisting on a 60-day trial period, reserving the right to resume operations if they believe the agreement is violated.

According to an Israeli official, the parties "are close to signing" a deal.
Preliminary toll from the shelling of the Bekaa this afternoon, according to our correspondent:
Israeli strikes on the village of Nabi Sheet (Baalbeck district) have killed over three people.
Strikes on the town of Hermel (in the same district) killed three brothers from the Makhour family.
In its eighth statement of the day, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a guided missile attack at 3:20 p.m. targeting a Merkava tank west of the Lebanese locality of Shamaa (Sour). The attack reportedly destroyed the tank, killing and injuring its crew members, according to the party's statement.
A U.S. official told Axios journalist Barak Ravid, "We believe we have reached an agreement. We are moving toward our goal, but we haven’t crossed the finish line yet. The Israeli cabinet must approve the agreement on Tuesday, and things could still go wrong between now and then."
A violent Israeli strike targeted Hadath in the southern suburbs of Beirut. Detonations were heard following the strike.
The building targeted, located near the Tayyouneh roundabout, next to the police station and opposite Horsh Beirut Park, was included in the evacuation notice issued by the Israeli army.
An Israeli raid targeted a residential complex in the Midan district of Choueifat, close to the Kamal Joumblatt hospital and to the home of the head of the Lebanese Democratic Party, Talal Arslan.
“The U.S. believes that a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah has been reached,” Axios journalist Barak Ravid said, quoting a senior U.S. official. “The Israeli security cabinet is expected to approve the agreement on Tuesday.”
At 2 p.m., Hezbollah fired a salvo of rockets at a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the locality of Malikiyeh, opposite the Lebanese village of Aita al-Shaab (Bint Jbeil).

- A second series of strikes targeted eastern Baalbeck, Tamnine again, Wadi Em Ali, the area around Beit Msheik and the area surrounding Hermel. Nabi Sheet was bombarded twice.
- The strike on the Hermel killed one person, and two people were reported missing.
- An Israeli drone also carried out a strike on the Sefri road.
- The Israeli army carried out a strike in Ras al-Ain, on the outskirts of Baalbeck.
- An airstrike targeted Laboueh, north of Baalbeck.
Six people were killed and four injured in the Israeli strike on Maarakeh, in southern Lebanon's Sour district, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
At 11:30 a.m., Hezbollah said it had targeted Israeli soldiers in the Avivim locality, opposite Maroun al-Ras (Bint Jbeil), with a salvo of rockets.
Hezbollah also claimed to have targeted a group of Israeli soldiers barricaded in a house on the southern outskirts of Biyada (south of Sour), while an Israeli army unit was withdrawing from the village yesterday following " heavy losses" inflicted on it by the party.
The statement added that the attack destroyed the house and killed and wounded members of the group.
Last night, Hezbollah repeatedly announced that it had targeted and destroyed Israeli tanks on the outskirts of Biyada.
Here's an update on Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon:
- Israeli airstrikes targeted Khiam (Majayoun), Yanouh and Boyout al-Siyyad (Sour), Ansarieh (Saida).
- An airstrike targeted Toul (Nabatieh district), hitting an area near the Ragheb Harb Hospital and causing extensive damage.
- Israeli artillery fire targeted the "Lebanese Army" area in Rashaya al-Foukhar (Hasbaya).
- Two people were killed and four wounded in the previously reported strike on Ghazieh (Saida).
- Eight people were injured following the Israeli strike on Ain Baal (Sour), according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. According to our correspondent, some people succumbed to their injuries, yet no official reports of deaths have been provided yet.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved "in principle" the cease-fire deal with Hezbollah during a security consultation with Israeli officials last night, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
Israel still has reservations over some details of the agreement, which were expected to be transmitted to the Lebanese government today, the source said.
Those and other details are still being negotiated and multiple sources stressed that the agreement will not be final until all issues are resolved.
A cease-fire agreement will also need to be approved by the Israeli cabinet, which has not yet occurred.
Sources familiar with the negotiations said talks appear to be moving positively toward an agreement, but acknowledged that as Israel and Hezbollah continue to trade fire, one misstep could upend the talks.
At around 2:15 p.m., Israeli warplanes simultaneously launched another series of strikes on several villages and towns, reported our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
Here's an update on the Israeli attacks that spanned from Sour to Zahrani Saida and Iklim al-Tuffah:
- In the city of Sour, following the evacuation orders, rescue teams are helping residents evacuate their homes, including an elderly lady with reduced mobility.
- Also in the Sour district: the villages bombed were Qana, Jwayya, Majdal, Wadi Jilo, Abbasieh, Burj Rahal, Deir Qanoun al-Nahr and Maarakeh.

- In the Zahrani-Saida region, the villages of Ansarieh, Bablieh, Ghazieh, Kfar Hatta, Iqlim al-Tuffah and Kfar Beit.
According to the online edition of the Israeli newspaper Maariv, citing political sources, a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah could be signed by the end of the week at the latest, and both sides have reportedly shown their willingness to reach an agreement.
The daily added that the majority required in the government to validate the agreement is guaranteed, despite the opposition of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
Sources contacted by Maariv also said the agreement was delayed by last week’s International Criminal Court arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
Since Sunday evening, conflicting reports about the conclusion of a cease-fire agreement have been circulating in the Israeli press.
At around 2:00 p.m., Israeli warplanes simultaneously launched a series of strikes on several villages and towns, reported our correspondent in southern Lebanon. Here's an update on the Israeli attacks:
- In the Saida district: Kfar Beit in Iqlim al-Tuffah, east of Saida, hitting the olive press in the village and the house of the missing former mukhtar, Abu Aref Ismail. Casualties have been reported, though no official figures have been provided yet. Another home was bombed south of Saida, in the Darb al-Sim-Ghazieh-Zanbil-Babalieh junction.
- In the Sour district: Wadi Jilo, Abbassiyé, Deir Qanoun al Nahr, Maarakeh, Majadal and Jwayya.
- In the Nabatieh district: Zefta, Kfar Tebnit, Harouf, Kfour and Doweir.
According to witnesses, the last detonation heard was caused by two simultaneous strikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

⚡A new Israeli strike targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut. The detonation was heard in and around Beirut.
🔴 The Israeli army issues two new evacuation warnings for the southern Lebanese cities of Nabatieh and Sour.
The Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesman, Avichay Adraee ordered the evacuation of a building in Nabatieh, located between the Amjad Institute and the Dagher supermarket.
In Sour, he ordered the evacuation of a large area of the city, extending from Hiram Street to the Mausoleum of the Prophet Ishmael, and from al-Awqaf Street to the Islamic University of Lebanon and Mohammad al-Zayyat Street.
These two major cities have already been hit several times since this morning, without prior warning.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at 12:35 p.m., the second in a row, against Israeli soldiers in the northern Israeli town of Meron.
The death toll of the three Israeli drone strikes in Sour has risen to 10 people including a woman and a Lebanese Army soldier, reported our correspondent citing Dr. Wassim Ghazal in Sour. The strikes also injured 17 people, who were taken to hospital.
The drone strikes targeted a moped and a gathering of citizens on the corniche at the al-Bass roundabout in the southern Lebanese coastal city.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at 12:30 p.m. on Israeli soldiers in the Israeli town of Meron in the Upper Galilee. This was its third operation of the day.
At noon, the Israeli army stated that some 20 projectiles were launched at Israel's north, Haaretz reported.
The Amal Movement announced the death of one of its members Wissam Ramez Ibrahim, from Burj al-Shemali, Sour — who succumbed to wounds he sustained in an Israeli strike on the town of Massaken (Sour).
The Amal Movement is led by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
🔴The Israeli army issued new evacuation orders for Beirut's southern suburbs, specifically the neighborhoods of Hadath Beirut, Haret Hreik and Ghobeiri.
Arabic-language army spokesperson, Avichaey Adraee, called on the residents of four buildings to immediately evacuate their homes and move 500 meters away.
- A building in Ghobeiri which faces the neighborhood's cemetery
- A building in Hadath which faces St. Georges school
- And, two buildings in Haret Hreik: one adjacent to al-Maaref University and al-Hasanain Mosque, and the other faces Sayyid al-Shouhada complex.

The soldier Diab Mohammad Jaafar, killed yesterday in an Israeli strike on a Lebanese Army center in Aamrieh, southern Lebanon, was buried in Beit Younes, his home village in the Jurd al Qaytaa region of Akkar.
The soldier's coffin was wrapped in a Lebanese flag, and the ceremony was attended by his family and village residents, as well as a representative of the Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Army, reported our correspondent in North Lebanon.
The Israeli army has withdrawn and redeployed its forces from the west of Deir Mimas (Marjayoun district), where they were stationed, to an area overlooking the Litani valley, to the east of the village, a security source told our correspondent.
This retreat follows incessant attacks by Hezbollah, which has struck Israeli soldier positions around the locality in recent days.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir wrote on social media platform X that an agreement with Lebanon is "a big mistake" and represents a "historic missed opportunity to eradicate Hezbollah."
"Now, when Hezbollah is weakened and desperate for a cease-fire, we must not stop," he continued.
Two people, including a woman, were killed in the Israeli drone strike on Sour, reported our correspondent citing an informed Civil Defense source, who also reported injuries.
Israeli aircraft bombed the Biyad neighborhood in Nabatieh, reported our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
The Jezzine-Mashghara (Bekaa-West) road near Qotrani village (Jezzine district) has reopened to traffic after being blocked by an Israeli strike in the area.
Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee also said in a statement that the morning's strikes on Haret Hreik, in Beirut's southern suburbs, targeted "Hezbollah command centers."
However, local media reported the targets were residential buildings.
Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, reported by our correspondent in the region:
- At least seven people were killed in three Israeli drone strikes in Sour. One of the drone strikes targeted a moped on the Bass road and the two others bombed Bawabeh district near Qasm Square.
- An airstrike targeted Nabatieh, but the missile failed to explode.
- A strike targeted Dibbine (Marjayoun district).
The Israeli army claimed to have targeted a Hezbollah "command center" in a strike on Saturday in Basta, in central Beirut, which left at least 29 people dead, according to the Lebanese authorities.
"The Israeli army struck a Hezbollah command center," she said in a message to AFP, while contradictory statements in Lebanon referred to a senior Hezbollah official as the target of the strike.
The Palestinian Authority said that two Palestinians, including a 13-year-old teenager, were killed last night in the north of the occupied West Bank in an Israeli army raid, reported AFP.
Israeli forces entered the village of Ya'bad, southwest of Jenin, and clashes broke out during which Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition, according to the official Palestinian Wafa agency. The Israeli army claims to have retaliated to Palestinian gunfire.
Mohammad Rabie Hamarcheh, 13, and Ahmad Mahmoud Zaid, 20, were killed, reported the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at 10:20 a.m. on a group of Israeli soldiers stationed in southern Lebanon, in the vicinity of the villages of Deir Mimas and Kfar Kila (Marjayoun district).
The mayor of Shamaa (Sour), Abdel Kader Safieddine, told L'Orient Today that the Israeli army bulldozed the village mosque and blew up a house two days ago. He added that clashes continue intermittently in the village, which the Israeli army has not managed to control completely.
An Israeli strike targeted an area between the towns of Boyout al-Siyyad and Mansouri (Sour), according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
In its first announcement of the day, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an 8:45 a.m. rocket attack on the Shraga base, which it describes as the administrative headquarters of the Golani Brigade command, north of Acre, an Israeli town north of the bay of Haifa.

⚡Two consecutive Israeli strikes targeted Haret Hreik, an hour after a call to evacuate three buildings in this southern Beirut suburb.
🔴The Israeli army issued evacuation threats for three buildings in Haret Hreik, in Beirut's southern suburbs. Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson, urged residents to "leave immediately" ahead of potential strikes.
The first building is near the Samir pharmacy, approximately 500 meters from the Sayyed al-Shohada complex. The second is located between the Hawra pharmacy and the Stars clothing store, and the third, also a few hundred meters from the Sayyed al-Shohada complex, near the highway and the Habayeb cafe.
🔴At around 9:15 a.m., the Israeli army issued its first evacuation threat for the entire village of Halta in southern Lebanon (Hasbaya district). The army's Arabic-speaking spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, shared a map of the small village, urging remaining residents to "leave their homes immediately" and move north of the Awali River, near Saida, ahead of anticipated strikes in the area.
Yesterday, Hezbollah claimed 51 operations against Israeli soldiers, positions, localities or drones. This is the highest number of operations conducted by the party since Oct. 8, 2023.
- In the evening, it claimed to have targeted the barracks and village of Avivim in northern Israel's Shtoula region.
On Lebanese territory:
- the party said it attacked at 7:15 p.m., followed by a 6th strike at 11:45 p.m., against Israeli soldiers east of Khiam (Marjayoun).
- They also launched exploding drones at Israeli soldiers south of Khiam
- At 8 p.m., Hezbollah said it attacked and hit Israeli soldiers between Deir Mimas and Kfar Kila for the 2nd time that day.
- At 10 p.m., the party said it fired missiles at Israeli soldiers trying to recover a destroyed tank in Tallet Loubia, west of Deir Mimas (Marjayoun).
- A drone attack was also launched on Israeli soldiers in Shamaa (Sour).
Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon last night:
- Airstrikes bombed a house in Naqoura (Sour district).
- Three people were killed in a strike in Zebqine (Sour).
- Airstrikes targeted the Deir Takla neighborhood in Ansarieh (Saida).
- Strikes on Khiam, as well as on the banks of the Litani west of Deir Mimas (Marjayoun).
- A strike targeted Ain Qana, in Iqlim al-Touffah in Nabatieh.
This morning, Israeli artillery fire continued to shell central Khiam (Marjayoun) and the town’s western regions, according to our correspondent.
Residents of Rashaya al-Foukhar and Kfar Hammam (Hasbaya district) reported feeling tremors reportedly caused by the Israeli army detonating houses in Khiam.
The Israeli army has previously booby-trapped and detonated houses, at time razing entire villages they entered. "Extensive destruction of property may constitute a war crime," General Dominique Trinquand, former head of the French military mission to the U.N. and ex-commander of a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) battalion told L'Orient Today. The night remained relatively calm in southern Lebanon. Also, no strikes were reported in Beirut’s southern suburbs after 9:30 p.m., despite earlier Israeli threats.
Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee had warned Hezbollah and “all those who think they are in a position to impose equations,” specifically threatening Beirut’s southern suburbs and boasting about the destruction.
