Israel launched its first strike on Beirut's southern suburbs, targeting the Haret Hreik neighborhood.
According to a source contacted by al-Jadeed, "Beirut airport is still operational, and contacts are underway to prevent any attack on it." A source at Beirut airport that we contacted assures that all flights scheduled by Middle East Airlines for today have departed or arrived and that no other flights are scheduled for the night.
MEA, which is the only airline operating flights to and from Lebanon since the end of September, is therefore continuing its operations despite the current situation.
Residents of the neighborhoods affected by the Israeli army's orders are fleeing in droves, al-Jadeed reports. People are firing gunshots into the air to wake up those who are asleep, in a scene that is has become all-too-familiar in Beirut's southern suburbs. The evacuation orders, deemed inadequate by human rights groups, do not provide a safe route, meaning residents can't know if they are fleeing toward or away from further attacks.
One of the Israeli army's recent evacuation orders targets a building around 163 meters from one of the airport's runways. The building is located in thin residential strip, a neighborhood called Tahwita al-Ghadir, that runs between two of the airport's runways.
🔴 The Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued an evacuation order to the residents of four buildings in the southern suburbs, one of which is located very close to a runway at the Beirut international airport.
The neighborhoods affected are Laylaki, Ouzaï, Haret Hreik and Tahwita al-Ghadir.

Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara is expected to support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in the high court, following a petition that was filed to block Gallant's dismissal, Haaretz reports.
The petition was filed earlier today and the Israeli High Court has ordered Netanyahu, the government, and the attorney general to respond by tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time, according to a Middle East Eye report. The attorney general will reportedly be supporting Netanyahu's case by citing the prime minister's broad legal authority over ministerial appointments and dismissals.

An 18-year-old Israeli from Kfar Masaryk was killed by shrapnel near his home village, in northern Israel, Haaretz reports. Israeli Magen David Adom rescue teams responded to calls that a man had been wounded in the agricultural area around the village. The paramedics declared him dead upon arriving at the scene.
The Haaretz report does not specify whether the shrapnel was from a rocket fired from Lebanon or from an interceptor missile, the shrapnel of which has killed people before.
According to Haaretz's count, 44 civilians have been killed since fighting began between Hezbollah and Israel last October.
Thousands of Israelis are demonstrating tonight in Jerusalem against the dismissal of Yoav Gallant from the position of defense minister and to call for the release of the hostages, Haaretz reports.
Among them is Einav Zangauker, the mother of a hostage named Matan Zangauker. She set up a tent in front of the prime minister's home and encouraged other hostages' families to do the same.
"I call on you to join me and the members of the families. Come with tents, and together we will make it clear to Netanyahu that we will not let go of him until there is a deal," she said.
The father of a man still captive in Gaza, cited by Al Jazeera, said Gallant's firing will only slow down a hostage deal further. “We just got another obstacle, the sacking of Gallant,” said Yehuda Cohen.
⚡ In its 29th statement of the day, Hezbollah announced that at 6 p.m., it launched a squadron of drones on the Belo base, "belonging to the reserve paratrooper brigade of the 98th Division" of the Israeli army, south of Tel Aviv. The party claims to have targeted this site "for the first time."

Boulos, a billionaire businessman whose son is married to Trump's daughter, noted that the Democrats had failed to convince Israel to agree to a cease-fire before Tuesday's vote. He said that Trump would take on "the tasks [linked to the process] of negotiating with the Lebanese side in order to reach an agreement" and that the new president intended to appoint "a person who knows the Israeli dossier well to negotiate with the Israelis."
Boulos also told al-Jadeed that Trump intended to "prepare a nuclear agreement with Iran." During his first term in office, from 2016-2024, Trump withdrew the United States from the previous Iran nuclear deal concluded in 2015 by his Democratic predecessor, Barack Obama.
The Amal Movement has announced that the funerals of 16 people killed in an Israeli strike in Barja, in the Chouf district, will take place in Rawdat al-Zahra, in Sour district, on Thursday at 10 a.m. Their remains will then be buried in Ain Baal, in the same district. The map published alongside the statement, on Adraee's X account, shows the six points mentioned earlier in the evacuation orders he issued this afternoon. According to reports in local media and the sounds heard throughout the capital, the Israeli army carried out at least eight strikes, all of them relatively powerful. The exact number of strikes is yet to be confirmed.
The Israeli army has killed more than 2,600 people in Lebanon, the majority of them civilians, since the intense escalation of the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah on Sept. 23, Health Minister Firas Abiad told AFP.
Israel launched a massive bombing campaign against Lebanon on Sept. 23, hitting more than 800 sites in one day, in a wave of attacks that analysts say was the most intense in the last year of fighting, only matched by those carried out against the besieged Gaza Strip.
This brings to 3,000 the total number of deaths in Lebanon since the start of the conflict in October 2023, Abiad said.
The municipality of Mais al-Jabal is calling on Lebanese authorities and international organizations for help in the face of Israeli threats against its hospital. The Marjayoun district village, located along the southern border with Israel, has suffered widespread destruction from Israeli bombings in the last month of war.
According to a statement from the municipality, reports have been circulating that the Israeli army has rigged the government hospital with explosives, with the intention to completely destroy the facility.
Appealing to authorities nationally and internationally, including the World Health Organization, Mais al-Jabal has asked for actors to "intervene quickly" and "make the necessary contacts to protect the hospital in this locality from the brutal aggression of the Israeli army."
The Israeli army has withdrawn the 252nd Reserve Division from central Gaza after three months of a ground invasion into the Netzarim Corridor area, Times of Israel reports. The 99th Division has taken over military operations in the corridor.
According to the army, the 252nd Division killed hundreds of Palestinian fighters and destroyed over 10 kilometers of tunnels. The army has expanded the corridor, which isolates northern Gaza from the rest of the besieged Strip, stretching it to the outskirts of Gaza City's Zeitoun neighborhood to the north and the Wadi Gaza river to the south.

"It has not yet been possible to inspect the interior of the temple to check whether there is any damage inside," he added. He also reports "significant damage" in the historic district of Manchieh.

Naim Qassem on the abduction of Imad Amhaz by Israel in Batroun during his speech earlier:
"For the Israelis to enter in this manner is a humiliation for Lebanon and raises serious questions. The army should release a statement to clarify the circumstances and ask UNIFIL, especially the Germans, what they observed that night."
⚡ Naim Qassem ended his speech with the words, “Victory is ours, and we are ready for a long war and will stand tall. We shall overcome.”
Naim Qassem:
"Despite its strength, the resistance has faced setbacks, lacking the same resources as the enemy, which is expected. Yet, its power lies in endurance and determination. We have no choice but to preserve our dignity and strive for victory. The heavy price we and the people pay is necessary to achieve victory and is less costly than surrender. This strength can only lead to victory, and we will remain on the ground until we defeat the enemy."
🔴 Naim Qassem:
"Netanyahu cannot achieve victory because he relies solely on his massacres and criminality, without even the support of his own people, while we draw our faith from God. When the enemy decides to halt its aggression, we will establish an indirect negotiation process through Nabih Berri. These negotiations will be based on two conditions: an end to hostilities and respect for Lebanese sovereignty."
Naim Qassem:
"So far, the enemy has failed to achieve any success — neither at the borders, through its massacres, nor by turning our public against us, or by attempting to sow discord between the displaced and the communities that host them."
Update on the situation in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa, reported by correspondents:
Israeli airstrikes targeted the town of Taraya, west of Baalbeck, and then bombed Baalbeck's Al-Nasr market square.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes hit the town of Zawtar al-Sharqieh in the Nabatieh district, while artillery fire targeted the outskirts of Deir Serian in Marjayoun and Yohmor Shqeif in Nabatieh.
🔴 Naim Qassem:
"The outcome of the U.S. presidential election, whether Harris or Trump wins, does not affect our positions. We pay no attention to this election, nor to Netanyahu’s potential shift in objectives; we are waiting for him to recognize his failure."
Qassem:
As for striking back at Israel, there will always be more missiles and drones, and no place is inaccessible to us. We won't be looking for a cease-fire; it's the enemy who will be begging for a halt to the fighting.
Qassem:
We have tens of thousands of well-trained fighters who can stand up to the enemy, take over from those on the borders, and have the necessary resources over time. Don't worry about our capabilities: we have them.
Qassem: We're convinced that only one factor can put an end to this war, and that's on the ground, whether it's at the borders on the ground or through the missiles we're sending inside Israel.
Naim Qassem :
What are the Israeli factors of strength? Savagery and the massacre of innocents, supremacy in the air and in technology, with the infinite support of the United States, the Great Satan, and finally its battalions on the borders.
The Israelis benefit from aviation, it's true, but they don't benefit from their massacres or their soldiers, who can't advance. That's the truth because the level of confrontation is making them no longer want to enter deep into (Lebanese) territory.
🔴 Naim Qassem:
Since the 2006 war, we've been preparing in all areas because we foresaw this war one day or another. We are now in a defensive phase against the enemy's expansionist intentions.
The enemy thought it would achieve its primary objectives with pagers and assassinations, so it prepared its army to be ready to enter Lebanon.
Naim Qassem:
It no longer matters how the war started or what caused it. It's a war against Lebanon, and Netanyahu says he doesn't set a deadline for this war, and talks about a goal of changing the Middle East, a goal bigger than Lebanon and Palestine.
He wants to finish off Hezbollah, then invade Lebanon and work to change the map of the Middle East.
Naim Qassem:
“We've been in an Israeli war and aggression against Lebanon for about a month and 10 days, following the support front which was totally different and aimed to support Palestine.”
As Naim Qassem began his speech, an evacuation notice was issued to residents of the Haret Hreik and Laylaki districts of Beirut's southern suburbs by the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesman Avichay Adraee, identifying three targeted buildings. This was followed by another to the residents of Burj al-Barajneh, where three buildings were identified.
Naim Qassem:
Our leader (Hassan) Nasrallah built a party of resistance that brings together all categories of society, a party of institutions with an organized structure in all areas. He will remain alive in us, and the resistance will remain and develop.
“On the fortieth day after the assassination of (Hassan) Nasrallah, let us remember that victory is always for the most faithful, through victory on the ground or martyrdom,” said Naim Qassem, to begin his second speech since his appointment as Hezbollah Secretary-General.
