"If this is true, it is not the end of the journey. There is no fear for the Resistance fighters," a source within Hezbollah said Monday, responding to reports of the alleged capture of a party fighter by the Israeli army.

On Sunday, the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesperson announced on social media platform X that the army had captured a "Hezbollah operative who barricaded himself inside an underground compound in southern Lebanon."

"First, there are bloody and violent confrontations with the Zionist enemy. We may kill some of them, and they may kill some of us, and we capture some of them, and they capture some of us, and we injure some of them, and they injure some of us. This is the nature of wars. We are in a fierce and brutal war," the statement shared with our correspondent in southern Lebanon read.

'We don't leave our captives in prisons'

"Assuming the incident occurred on the front line [the capture of a Hezbollah fighter], this means that the confrontations and fierce fighting are happening at the front line, and this is a point in favor of the resistance and its fighters who have not retreated or backed down. Every young man among them is writing the most wonderful epics; each one, in his own right, is a story of heroism," the statement continued. "They will not and have not retreated, and they are present for the dignity of Lebanon. God willing, we will be victorious, and let us reiterate what Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said: We are a people who do not leave our captives in prisons. If this is true, it is not the end of the journey. There is no fear for the resistors."

RECAP: A volcanic Sunday between Israel and Hezbollah - Strike south of Haifa, captured Hezbollah fighter, UNIFIL targeted

Hezbollah has yet to issue an official statement regarding the alleged capture of its fighter, leaving this account unconfirmed.

On Sunday, the Israeli army claimed that "during an operation in southern Lebanon, a tunnel was located under a building leading to an area inhabited by terrorists." Soldiers surrounded the building, explored the tunnel, and discovered an "underground complex some seven meters below ground." The underground space measured approximately 50 square meters. A Hezbollah member was reportedly found there, equipped with weapons and provisions for an extended stay. The fighter "surrendered and was arrested." According to the statement, the Israeli army "interrogated him on the spot before taking him to a detention center" in Israel.

Accompanying its announcement, the Israeli army released a video purportedly showing the capture of a man emerging from the tunnel, with his body and face blurred. This marks the first such announcement from the Israeli army since it began its ground offensive in southern Lebanon, during which it has claimed to have killed "hundreds" of Hezbollah fighters.
