Bekaa Governor Kamal Aboujawdeh on Friday partially resumed the passage of trucks on the Dahr al-Baidar road that connects Bekaa to Beirut after he put restraints on it due to a collapse of a retaining wall in the area.
In a statement, Aboujawdeh said that after being given a technical opinion from the Ministry of Public Works and after coordinating with the Internal Security Forces branch in the region a decision was made to allow trucks to allow the passage of trucks in Dahr al-Baidar starting Saturday as a one way.
The statement explained that trucks will be allowed from Beirut to the Bekaa from 4 a.m. until 12 p.m. and from the Bekaa to Beirut from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Aboujawdeh said that due to technical reports, there is no ability right now to allow a two-way passage for trucks in that area.
The bad weather has caused landslides last week following several storms. According to the state-run National News Agency (NNA), the Serjbel – Jahilieh (Chouf) road was completely closed before the Shamrine crossroads, due to landslides. On the other hand, work was continuing last week on the Dahr al-Baidar axis, despite difficult weather conditions, after the collapse of a retaining wall, according to the outgoing Minister of Public Works on X, Ali Hamieh.
