BEIRUT — A man's body was recovered off the shores of Raouche, in Beirut, on Monday afternoon, according to a Civil Defense statement. The identity of the man, who was found around 3 p.m., has not yet been disclosed.

The Civil Defense also stated that it was continuing its search for two Syrian nationals who have been missing off the coast of Beirut since Saturday, at Ramlet al-Baida beach.

Unstable weather conditions and particularly powerful waves, compounded by an increase in beach-goers, drawn in by the warmer weather, have resulted in several drowning incidents in recent weeks. In the last 10 days, seven people have drowned, gone missing, or been recovered, lifeless, from Lebanon's waters.

On April 19th, two men drowned in Sour, southern Lebanon. On Friday, another man's body was recovered from the waters at a beach on Sour. That same day, five other swimmers were saved from drowning off Jbeil. On Saturday, seven swimmers were swept away from the shores of Ramlet al-Baida. Four of them were rescued, one was declared dead that same day, and two others are still missing.
