BEIRUT — Hezbollah on Thursday called on the Lebanese government and people to act against Israeli violations in the village of Ghajar in south Lebanon, which is recognized by the UN as part of Lebanese territory, after Israeli forces placed a fence in the village.

In a statement, Hezbollah described the Israeli act as "dangerous" and said that this development was a "full occupation of the Lebanese side of Ghajar village by military force in order to force a reality, not just the kind of periodic violation which Israel is used to every now and then."

Hezbollah also asked "the Lebanese state with all its institutions, especially the Lebanese government, and the Lebanese people with its politicians and representatives to act in order to prevent the fixation of this occupation in order to eliminate the assaultive acts which it [Israel] did, and to work on the liberation of this part of our land to return it to the country."

Israeli violations have intensified in recent days. Hezbollah shot down an Israeli drone that entered Lebanese airspace last week, and Tel Aviv incorporated the Lebanese part of the village of Ghajar over the weekend, in violation of Resolution 1701.
