BEIRUT — Entry to archaeological and cultural sites will be free on Tuesday, caretaker Culture Minister Mohammad Mortada announced via the state-run National News Agency.

This decision is meant to mark the International Day of Tourism, which falls on Sept. 27.

The ministry organizes, almost annually, free entries to archaeological sites and museums in Lebanon for World Museum Day in May, an opportunity which, the minister said at the time, “aims to raise awareness of the role that museums play in social development and familiarization with cultural heritage.”
