Free admission to all museums in Lebanon from May 18 to 27

BEIRUT — Lebanese Culture Minister Mohammad Mortada announced Wednesday that entry to archaeological sites and museums in Lebanon will be free from May 18 to 27.

Here’s what we know:

    • “Lebanese visitors will be exempt from entrance fees to archaeological sites, the National Museum, museums and the Beiteddine Palace from May 18 to 27,” said the minister.

    • This decision comes on the occasion of World Museum Day, National Heritage Day and the 80th anniversary of the National Museum of Beirut, an opportunity which, according to the minister, “aims to raise awareness of the role that museums play in social development and familiarization with cultural heritage.”
