BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army deployed its soldiers to several streets in Tripoli overnight Tuesday, following a shooting that did not cause any casualties, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in North Lebanon reported.
Here’s what we know:
• The soldiers positioned themselves in several populated and sensitive areas of the city, including Jabal Mohsen, as they inspected some of the vehicles passing by.
• These measures came after a shooting that targeted a restaurant in the Dam Wa Farez neighborhood in Tripoli by unidentified individuals who were on a motorcycle. A woman, who fainted from fear, was rescued at the scene by the Red Cross. Property damage was also reported.
• Tripoli, one of the poorest cities in Lebanon, has experienced many violent incidents recently as the country struggles from economic and social instability.
