BEIRUT — Residents of the Nabatieh area in South Lebanon Monday lost all telecommunication services from the Alfa and Touch mobile telephone networks, the state-owned National News Agency reported, without explaining the reason for the outage.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the NNA, the cuts have affected thousands of students in the region who were supposed to attend their classes using the internet.
• In recent months, the state-owned telephone and internet operator Ogero, as well as the Alfa and Touch companies, have experienced numerous service outages across Lebanon for an array of reasons, including severe shortages in the state electricity supply, which forces the generators feeding the telecommunication power stations to run at full capacity causing regular overheating and breakdowns.
