BEIRUT — Beirut port blast probe head Judge Tarek Bitar will be able to resume his investigation following a more than a monthlong interruption after the Appeals Court on Tuesday overturned a lawsuit filed by former minister Youssef Fenianos, a judicial source told L’Orient Today.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to the source, Bitar can resume his investigation as soon as he is officially informed of the Appeals Court’s decision.

    • Bitar was forced to stop working on his investigation in November after he was informed that former minister Youssef Fenianos had filed a lawsuit against him.

    • The current halt marks the third time Bitar’s probe has been suspended in the face of a wave of lawsuits filed by former ministers suspected of negligence in relation to the blast.
