BEIRUT — President Joseph Aoun spoke by phone on Monday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II to thank him for humanitarian aid convoys sent to displaced people since the resumption of the war between Hezbollah and Israel on March 2.
Aoun said Jordan’s support for Lebanon in various fields "reflects the depth of the relationship between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples," adding that both sides seek to strengthen cooperation in all areas.
King Abdullah II, in turn, thanked Aoun for his remarks and reaffirmed Jordan’s "steadfast position alongside Lebanon and its people, especially during this delicate period," as well as support for Lebanon’s efforts to restore security, stability, and sovereignty over its territory.
The two leaders also discussed regional developments, including U.S.-Iran negotiations aimed at ending the war that began with a U.S. and Israeli campaign against Iran on Feb. 28.
