BEIRUT — Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi was hit with a red liquid as he left Germany’s federal press conference building in Berlin on Thursday following a media briefing, the Associated Press reported.

Pahlavi had just criticized a recent U.S.–Iran cease-fire agreement, arguing it assumes Iran’s leadership will suddenly shift toward pragmatism. As he exited the venue, an unidentified individual allegedly splashed him with what police said appeared to be tomato juice. He was not injured and waved to supporters before leaving by car.

German police detained the suspect at the scene. Authorities have not released the person’s identity, citing privacy rules.

The 65-year-old, who has lived in exile for nearly five decades, continues to position himself as part of Iran’s political future, although his level of support inside the country remains unclear.
