BEIRUT – The Israeli military said Wednesday that it eliminated Hisham Abdel Karim Yassine in a strike in Lebanon. He was described as a "central official within Hezbollah's communications unit and the Palestinian Corps affiliated with Quds Force," the elite force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The location of the strike was not specified.
In a post on X, the Israeli military's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, said the military "eliminated another commander of the Palestinian Corps belonging to the Iranian Quds Force," bringing the number of members of this unit killed since the start of Operation 'Lion's Roar' to five.
According to Col. Adraee, he is also the third official within the Palestinian Corps killed since the beginning of the Israeli offensive. He is said to have worked to "consolidate the Iranian presence in Lebanon" and to advance "terrorist plans under the direction of the Iranian regime."
According to the Israeli military, Hisham Abdel Karim Yassine was responsible for "strengthening Hezbollah's capabilities and rebuilding its assets after Operation 'Northern Arrows.'" He also reportedly worked "to consolidate the Iranian presence in Lebanon and to advance terrorist plans under the direction of the Iranian regime."
