The Lebanese Army seized rockets and rocket launchers on Friday in the Rashaya region, in the Bekaa, and arrested eight individuals suspected of smuggling, the army announced on its website. This seizure took place as the army continues its deployment in southern Lebanon, in accordance with the cease-fire agreement with Israel, and takes action against the presence of illegal weapons, notably after retaking several Palestinian positions.

The military “seized a quantity of rockets, weapons, war ammunition and explosive devices on the outskirts of Aaiha-Marj al-Tout, in the Rashaya district,” the army’s press office said in a brief statement. Intelligence services also arrested “eight citizens” in Kfar Zabad, in the Bekaa, accused of smuggling and selling weapons and ammunition coming from Syria. Weapons were found in their possession.

Investigations are ongoing.
