Syria’s new authorities announced Saturday that they had foiled an attempted attack by the Islamic State (ISIS) on the Sayyeda Zeinab shrine, a revered Shiite site south of Damascus.
A source from Syrian intelligence, quoted by the state-run news agency Sana, said security forces "successfully thwarted an ISIS attempt to carry out a bombing inside the Sayyeda Zeinab shrine," adding that several people had been arrested.
