BEIRUT — Caretaker Transport and Public Works Minister Ali Hamieh on Friday inaugurated a new bus line connecting the Palace of Justice area to the Lebanese University (LU) in Hadath. The route passes through the Hadi Nasrallah highway in Beirut's southern suburbs and the Tayyouneh neighborhood, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
"This initiative is part of a plan to expand public transport across Lebanon," Hamieh said. "The line was set to launch at the start of the school year but was delayed due to Israeli aggression."
Hamieh announced plans for another line connecting the LU campus in Hadath to Khaldeh, south of Beirut, which is expected to open soon. Additional routes serving the Bekaa, the South and the North are scheduled to launch after the holiday season, he added.
