Jordan advises citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon amid rising tension

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement on Friday urging its citizens to avoid traveling to Lebanon due to recent "regional developments." The ministry emphasized its commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad.

"In light of the developments in the region, and out of concern for the safety of Jordanian citizens abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates advises Jordanian citizens to avoid traveling to the sister Republic of Lebanon at this time," the ministry stated. "This reiterates the advisory issued on October 31, 2023, regarding travel to Lebanon, based on the preparations and emergency plans announced by the official authorities in Lebanon at that time."

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah, stressed, "This recommendation is made with the utmost concern for the safety of Jordanian citizens."

Qudah also renewed his call for Jordanian citizens residing in, or currently present in Lebanon to immediately register on the Jordanian Embassy in Beirut’s website and remain in contact with the ministry for assistance.
