BEIRUT — A man drowned on Sunday while swimming off the beach in the village of Abdeh (Akkar district), eyewitnesses told our correspondent in North Lebanon.
According to the eyewitnesses, the man's body was taken to al-Kheir hospital in the town of Miniyeh.
Meanwhile, the Civil Defense asked people to "adhere to public safety guidelines when heading to the beach" on Sunday due to "high waves and fast water currents," reminding them to "call 125 to request assistance if necessary."
Unstable weather conditions and particularly powerful waves have at times made swimming off Lebanon's coasts particularly risky over the past several months. More than 10 people have drowned off Lebanon's coast since April 8.
