Dar al-Fatwa announced on Friday that the start date of Eid al-Adha is June 16. Lebanon's highest Sunni religious authority said that the grand mufti, Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian, will travel to Saudi Arabia on Saturday to perform the “hajj pilgrimage” to Mecca.

Dar al-Fatwa added that its secretary, Sheikh Amine al-Kurdi, will recite the Adha prayer and deliver the Adha sermon at 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, at the Mohammed al-Amine Mosque in downtown Beirut.

The prime minister's office announced in a press release issued shortly after Dar al-Fatwa that public administrations and institutions would be closed on Monday and Tuesday, June 17 and 18.
