The fighting between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon has entered a third phase. It is perhaps the most crucial. Initially, Israeli strikes targeted an area stretching between five to seven kilometers deep into Lebanese territory. In the second phase, this range was extended to 10 to 15 kilometers. At present, however, operations are being carried out in various parts of the south, including around Saida and Iqlim al-Tuffah. Israel had already targeted areas located several dozen kilometers from the border, but the strikes were not concentrated and daily. There are several Israeli objectives behind this escalation.
