The Lebanese Army foiled a new irregular migration attempt on Saturday off the coast of Tripoli (North Lebanon), the army announced in a press release.

"Eighteen Syrian migrants aboard the makeshift boat were rescued," the army said.

On Friday, the troop announced that it had rescued 29 Syrian migrants off the coast of Tripoli, as their vessel was in danger of sinking.

At the end of September, approximately 30 Syrian people attempting to leave Lebanon clandestinely by sea were rescued off the northern coast of Chekka.
