BEIRUT — A man was stabbed multiple times in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp on Tuesday over an alleged family dispute, a Palestinian source inside the camp told L'Orient-Le Jour. The incident took place just over a week after intense clashes in Ain al-Hilweh ended.

According to the source, the man who was stabbed is a member of the Palestinian National Security. The alleged aggressor, who shares a last name with the victim, is a member of an islamist Palestinian faction. The victim was hospitalized after being attacked on his way home, the source added.

Deadly clashes between Islamist factions and Fateh broke out at the end of July and left at least 13 deaths, many injured and caused considerable destruction to the Ain al-Hilweh camp.

The camp is home to more than 80,000 registered Palestinian refugees who have been joined in recent years by thousands of additional Palestinians fleeing the conflict in Syria.
