BEIRUT — A personal dispute erupted on Tuesday evening between two individuals in Baalbeck and developed into heavy gun and rocket fire which damaged houses and cars, L'Orient Today's correspondent reported.
According to a security source, the dispute that erupted between M.H. from Taraya town and M.T. from Brital town, both in Baalbeck, related to drug trafficking.
Mawlawi recently announced a security plan for the end of year period, emphasizing restrictive gun control measures. The latest call against loose weapon security follows a series of deadly shootings.
Armed clashes in the Bekaa are not unusual as the area, which includes many tribal armed families, and where the already weak rule of law has been further undermined by the unprecedented economic crisis in which Lebanon has been mired since 2019.
