Two suspects arrested for theft of $150,000 worth of materials

BEIRUT — Two Lebanese men were arrested by the judicial police in Nabatieh, South Lebanon, for allegedly stealing the equivalent of $150,000 worth of copper and aluminum materials, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Thursday via Twitter.

The men, identified by the initials, A.W. and H. H. and aged 30 and 35, were arrested on Dec. 7, the ISF said. They are suspected of stealing copper and aluminum materials from a warehouse in Deir Zahrani. One of the men is an employee in charge of the warehouse on behalf of a company, and the other is a boom lift operator at one of the company's partners.

The company reported the theft. According to the ISF, when the two suspects were detained, A. W. admitted to having stolen the materials and indicated that the other individual was aware of the theft. The investigation is ongoing.
