BEIRUT — A ministerial meeting chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati was held on Monday at the Grand Serail to continue the study of the draft budget 2023, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers reported in a tweet.
The meeting was attended by the cabinet's vice President Saade Chami, caretaker Finance Minister Youssef Khalil, Finance Ministry Director General Georges Maaraoui, Mikati's advisor and former Minister Nicolas Nahas, and economic advisor Samir Daher.
The Lebanese Parliament only approved the draft budget for the current year on Sept. 26, 2022, while no budget had been adopted for the year 2021. According to constitutional deadlines, the draft budget for 2023 should be approved by Dec. 31 or, at the latest, by the end of January 2023.
