BEIRUT — A fire Friday evening erupted in fuel tanks in the Chouf region town of Dalhoun, causing a strong explosion and injuring one person, according to a Civil Defense spokesperson and the state-run National News Agency.

The Danko company, which owns the fuel tanks, said in a statement that "electrical friction" caused the fire in the tanks, which in turn led another tank to explode. One worker, who was near the tanks, suffered minor burns, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Seven fire trucks were dispatched to the scene in an attempt to control the fire, a Civil Defense spokesperson told L'Orient-Le Jour.

On Aug. 15, 2021, a gasoline tank exploded in Tleil village in Akkar, north Lebanon, killing more than 30 people and injuring about 100.
