BEIRUT —Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea at the Grand Serail on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the broader region, as well as the results of the meetings held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Mikati held a series of meetings in New York with the heads of Arab and Foreign delegations, during which his counterparts insisted on the implementation of the reforms demanded by the International Monetary Fund and the international community, as well as the need to form a new government and elect a new president within the constitutional deadline, which is Oct. 31.
During his speech to the UN General Assembly Wednesday night, Mikati asked for help from "friends of Lebanon" to cope with the country's ongoing economic collapse.
