BEIRUT —A temporary water cut in Beirut will take place from Thursday till Saturday, the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Establishment (EBML) said in a statement Thursday morning.
EBML stated that "the rehabilitation works are underway on Tallet al-Khayat station, which include replacing its pumps, collectors and electrical panels, forcing the corporation to cut off water from the areas fed by the station which are: Taletl El-Khayat, Mar Elias, Aisha Bakkar, Koraytem, Verdun, Ras Beirut, Raouche, Bir Hassan, part of Ghobeiry, Tariq al-Jdideh and the American University of Beirut Medical Center.”
In July, a "technical error" in a pipe caused an interruption in the water supply of south of Beirut, as well as the north and south Metn coast, for a few days.
In a July 2021 report, UNICEF sounded the alarm that 71 percent of the Lebanese population could suffer from a lack of access to water, even though the country is well endowed with water resources compared to others in the region.
