Middle East Airlines (MEA) pilots will not go on strike in August in a bid for a new salary adjustment, while upcoming negotiations between the Lebanese national airline's management and the union representing its pilots have been postponed to September.This was announced late Sunday evening by the outgoing Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamieh, after convincing the parties not to let their differences impact a summer season that confirms week after week its promises in terms of attendance (see box).This comes in a context of an acute crisis still marked by a sharp depreciation of the lira and banking restrictions on foreign currency deposits that banks have unilaterally imposed on their customers since late 2019.In his statement on Sunday, Hamieh assured that the activity of the company, which has already had to reschedule...
