BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army came under fire on Tuesday morning in the Saraaine area of Baalbeck-Hermel, after intervening to control an armed clash between two men, L’Orient Today’s correspondent there reported. It was not yet clear at noon whether anyone had been injured.

Here’s what we know:

    • According to L’Orient Today’s correspondent, an argument between two men from the Choumane family escalated into a clash with rocket launchers.

    • Army intelligence intervened to calm the situation and were reportedly targeted by the gunmen before exchanging fire. The situation apparently deescalated after the Lebanese Army arrested one of the shooters, L’Orient Today’s correspondent reported.

    • Such clashes have become more common as Lebanon suffers from an unprecedented economic crisis and an absence of proper security measures.
