BEIRUT — Two men were found deceased on the outskirts of Rashaya, near the Syrian border, Friday, one of whom was a deserter from State Security, local media reported.
Here’s what we know:
• Local television network MTV reported that Tarek Mahmoud Zeidan and Yehya Kamil Ala’eddine were shot to death near Rashaya. Both were from the nearby town of Yanta. The army has deployed a unit and barred access to the crime scene.
• The men’s corpses were found Friday night in an all-terrain vehicle belonging to Zeidan. No suspects have yet been identified, MTV reported.
• State Security issued a statement indicating that Zeidan was a fugitive, having not shown up for work since October 24, 2021.
