BEIRUT — A major fire broke out Friday in the Kabalan carpet factory, in the Nmairiyeh area of the Nabatieh region, L’Orient Today’s South Lebanon correspondent reported.
Here’s what we know:
• According to our correspondent, the firefighters went to the scene and are trying to control the flames, while the reasons for the fire are not yet known.
• The Environment Ministry warned Friday of an increased fire risk s in Lebanon, especially over the weekend. Fire index maps published by the laboratory of the University of Balamand also indicated on the same day “a severe risk of the outbreak of fires that are difficult to control and a strong possibility of their sudden and rapid spread.”
• A fire burned green spaces in the Abdeh region of Akkar in north Lebanon Thursday, in a plantation area belonging to the Agriculture Ministry.
