BEIRUT — Ahla Fawda, a non-governmental organization, is organizing its fifth annual festival this Sunday under a health and well-being theme in Hamra, Beirut, where it will be providing free medical consultations, mental health guidance, sports activities as well as live performances, music, live art, parades and other activities.

Here’s what we know:

    • The “Hamra Life Beat 2022” festival, which aims at “encouraging health awareness, providing healthy lifestyle information and tools, and delivering professional well-being guidance,” comes amid Lebanon’s crumbling healthcare sector, one of the outcomes of the deepening economic crisis.

    • Several booths will be stationed along Hamra’s main street and will be providing various medical and well-being check-ups and raise awareness on topics like substance abuse, cancer, nutrition, dental hygiene, hearing and eyesight, in addition to animal care and more.

    • Those attending the festival will also enjoy a range of fun activities from live music, arts and crafts, kids activities, in addition to stage and street performances. The festival will also host national and international artists who will be playing a range of music genres including pop, electronic, rap, hip-hop, and rock.

    • The festival is Ahla Fawda’s fifth festival since its launch in 2014. The festival will take place on Hamra’s main street in Beirut on June 26, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

    • Ahla Fawda is an NGO that addresses “all aspects of community welfare, humanitarian, cultural and environmental, and aims to provide a support framework for communities in need.”
