BEIRUT— A tanker truck carrying gas bottles caught fire around noon Friday and subsequently exploded on the east-bound lane of the Zouk Mosbeh highway, bound for Jounieh. No casualties resulted from the accident.
Here’s what we know:
• According to the local channel MTV, the fire damaged a car parked near the scene as well as electrical cables, resulting in a power outage in the area.
• Civil defense workers immediately intervened to control the blaze, which had spread to a nearby residential building. Traffic has been completely blocked on the highway’s east-bound lane.
• The cause of the fire is still unknown.
