BEIRUT— FPM Metn MP Ibrahim Kanaan stressed in an interview on a local radio station Tuesday that “the budget must include a rescue plan, starting with restructuring banks and public debt … rather than increasing taxes”. Kanaan, who heads Parliament's finance and budget committee, said that "the committee is waiting for the budget plan to study it, but no budget will be approved at the expense of citizens.”

• "Let it be known to the government that there are things that will not pass, and they should think about priorities and reforms in the discussions,” Kanaan said, adding that “the rumored lack of new taxes is not true, because the truth is that there is an increase in existing taxes.”
